Q.
When does the qualifier season begin?
A.
The schedule for Round 1 of the Champions Cup is as follows;
Store qualifiers: April 22 - July 23, 2023
Area qualifiers: August 5 - August 27, 2023
Premium qualifiers: May 20 - July 23, 2022
The Champions Cup Final is scheduled for October-November 2023.
We will announce the date as soon as it is determined
Q.
What does the word "round" mean?
A.
Champions Cup Finals will be held 3 tournaments during the year 2023-2024. we will call them Round 1, Round 2, and Round 3 to distinguish between these three tournaments.
Q.
Why did you choose to make the cycle a round?
A.
The name has been changed to the same as the North American Championship.
Q.
When will information about the Pro Tour and World Championship be released?
A.
Wizards of the Coast will announce the factsheet in at least 1 month before the event date.
Q.
Do I need proof of vaccination or a mask to attend the event?
A.
We will make a decision based on the latest information.
Please follow the policies of each organizer with qualifiers.
Please also follow the policies of the local government of the host city.
Q.
What format is it done?
A.
The format of the Store qualifiers is Pioneer and Sealed.
Area Qualifiers, Premium Qualifiers, Last Chance Trials and Champions Cup Finals are Pioneer.
Q.
Will there be promo cards for each qualifier?
A.
Yes, we will prepare them for you.
It will be depended on the type of qualifier and the number of participants.
Q.
If I win Area Qualifier or Premium Qualifier, do I have to participate on the Japan/Korea Regional Qualifier (Champions Cup Final)?
A.
Yes, you have to.
If you want to participate in a regional championship outside of Japan and Korea, you must win the qualifier for that region.
Q.
How much does participate fee for each qualifier?
A.
Each organizer decides it.
Q.
How many players are required to participate in the qualifiers?
A.
8 players are required to participate for store qualifiers, area qualifiers, and last-chance trials.
17 players are required to participate for premium qualifiers store qualifiers.
If there are not enough participants, the qualifier will be cancelled.
Q.
Can the store owner, tournament organizer staff and judges participate in the qualifier as players?
A.
(Store Qualifiers) Yes, they can participate in the store qualifier, because store qualifiers is regular REL.
However, all players must be notified of this at the start of the event from store staff. It is also forbidden to manipulate the event to your own advantage.
(Area / Premium Qualifiers) You may not be allowed to participate as a player in the Premium and Area Qualifiers.
Q.
Can I choose to " Intentional Draw" or " concede" while participating in an event?
A.
Yes, you may choose to " Intentional Draw " or " concede " in that game or match. Players may not agree to a concession or draw in exchange for any reward or incentive. Doing so will be considered Bribery.
Q.
How many players can advance from the store qualifiers to the area qualifiers?
A.
The top two finishers from each store qualifier will advance to the Area Qualifier.
However, for store qualifiers with only 8 participants, the first-place player will advance to the Area Qualifier.
Q.
Can I participate in the store qualifier if I already have the right to participate in the area qualifier?
A.
Yes, you can.
If you are invited Area qualifiers, this invitation will be pass down.


Eligibility for the Champions Cup Finals

Q.
Will MPL/Rivals members be invited to the Champions Cup Finals season 2?
A.
No. MPL/Rivals members will not be invited for Season 2.
Q.
Will Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour Hall of Fame players be invited to the Champions Cup Finals?
A.
Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour Hall of Fame players will be invited to one Regional Championship and one Pro Tour per season (2023-2024 seasons, respectively). However, the Regional Championships and Pro Tours in which they participate in this way must be from the same round. Also, rounds in which you participated in the Regional Championship Qualifier will not be eligible for this invitation.
Q.
I live in the USA.
Can I participate in the Champions Cup Finals if I win the Last Chance Trials?
A.
Yes, you can.
However, you cannot have participated if you have already participated in other regional championship (ex. DreamHack Regional Championship) of the same round.
Q.
I live in Singapore. If I finish in the top 8 in the Open event at the Players Convention, can I participate in the next Champions Cup Finals?
A.
Yes, you can.
However, you cannot have participated if you have already participated in other regional championship (MTG SEA Championship) of the same round.
Q.
I win Magic Online tournament (ex. showcase), then I’m invited to the next Pro Tour on Magic Online. Can I participate in the Champions Cup Finals? If so, how can I participate?
A.
If you live in Japan or Korea, you can participate.

Prizes for the Champions Cup Final

Q.
When will the prize money be paid?
A.
Wizards of the Coast will pay your prize money to your account. Please be check the email of your Wizards account. It’s 1 or 2 weeks later.
Q.
Will Pro Tour invitational be pass down?
A.
Yes.
However, it’s decision will be made by Wizards of the Coast.
Please be check the email of your Wizards account.
Q.
Is there a chain-system for next Champions Cup Finals?
A.
Yes, it is.
Players who invited to Pro Tour will be chained to the next Champions Cup Finals.
Q.
I get invitation to the Pro Tour or World Championships. Will I get travel expenses?
A.
No. Travel and lodging expenses are the responsibility of the player.

Q.
I would like to hold a qualifier, what do I?
A.
Please send an email to BIGMAGIC Customer(taikai@bigmagic.net) with the name of the store and person in charge.
We will reply application form URL. Please enter your qualifiers’ detail on that form.
Q.
Can I hold 2 qualifiers?
A.
Yes, you can hold up to two events per round.
In addition, WPN stores in the Kanto region (Tokyo, Kanagawa, Chiba and Saitama prefectures) can hold one additional event during the round. (Those stores can be held 3 times in total).
Q.
I’d like to hold a second store qualifier, do I need to apply for the acceptance form again?
A.
Yes, we have received your application in order to ensure the accurate delivery of the event kit. If you hold 2+ qualifiers, please apply for one at a time.
Q.
What is the template for the event link?
A.
The templates for the store qualifiers are as follows; 1st Champions Cup Qualifier 1 Season 2 Round 1
2nd Champions Cup Qualifier 2 Season 2 Round 1
3rd Champions Cup Qualifier 3 Season 2 Round 1
Q.
The template is not displayed. What should I do?
A.
Please wait 7-15 days for the template to show. If it does not show after that time, it’s problem. Please contact BIGMAGIC customer (taikai@bigmagic.net).
Q.
We are unable to hold an event due to a natural disaster or power outage. What should I do?
A.
If you deem it unsafe to proceed with the event, this event will be cancelled. If evacuation is necessary, please do so promptly. The event may also be postponed. After you have calmed down, please contact BIGMAGIC customer (taikai@bigmagic.net)
Q.
I forgot to check about top 8 single elimination on the eventlink. What should I do?
A.
If there are less than 16 participants, it cannot be used. Please use the TOP 4 Blanket for the top 4 players enclosed in the event kit.

If there are more than 17 participants, please conduct the final round on paper. When you report the results, please also report the scanned data of the paper.
The algorithm for the final round pairings is as follows
In the eight-player final, the first-place player will play the eighth-place player, the second-place player will play the seventh-place player, the third-place player will play the sixth-place player, and the fourth-place player will play the fifth-place player.

In the semifinals, the winner of 1st-8th place will play the winner of 4th-5th place, and the winner of 2nd-7th place will play the winner of 3rd-6th place. The final will be played between the winners of both matches.
Q.
When will the event kits be shipped?
A.
We plan to ship between 10 and 15 days after application. However, delivery may be delayed due to inclement weather or other reasons, so we ask that you apply well in advance.
Q.
What should I do with my leftover promo cards?
A.
Please return the items with the enclosed slip.
In Korea region, please sent to “Rolling Dice/ 롤링다이스첫”

Q.
How much the event kit?
A.
500 JPY per participant for in-store qualifiers.
For area and premium qualifiers, the fee is 1000 yen per participant.
An invoice will be issued once the number of participants has been reported and confirmed.
Q.
My event was un-sanctioned (7- players). What should I do?
A.
If you are postponing an event, please contact us the replacement date. If you cancel the event, please return the event kit and you don’t need to charge for the event kit.
Q.
My schedule conflicts with a neighboring store. How can I change the qualifiers schedule?
A.
Dates can be changed. Please email us instead of Discord for our records.(taikai@bigmagic.net)
